What are the ways to use PHONE4YOU?
The easiest way to take advantage of Phone4you is through our WEB-phone, which is located at www.phone4you.co.za. Other options are to have the phone software or specialised hardware. For the convenience of users who have no hardware, they can download the preconfiguration software for their phone number from the download menu, identified by number and password. If you want to use a hardware device, it must be compatible with one of the protocols SIP or IAX2. If you do not have such a device, but want to buy, you can visit our online store.

We also offer Certified Hardware for Phone4you and Setup Instructions.

Can I use phone software under Linux or another OS?
The Phone4you network is based on two standard protocols SIP and IAX2, which have thousands of free and commercial software phones for each OS. It is not a problem to use this network under Linux, the Macintosh or any other operating system as you can find versions of the phone software for Linux and Macintosh.

How can you get free preconfiguration software for your phone number?
The use of preconfiguration software for your phone is the easiest way to take advantage of Phone4you. To obtain one for free, just log into the users section of our site by authorising your number and password. Software works under all versions of Microsoft Windows.

How to dial numbers in the PHONE4YOU network?
The numbers in the Phone4you network are seven-digits, excluding service redundant numbers. All numbers in the Phone4you network are recruited directly without code, prefix or suffix.

How to call national and international numbers?
Numbers outside of Phone4you can be used in the national networks in South Africa. For example, to dial a number of the MTN network, you must dial 083 before the number (e.g. 0831234567). To dial a number to a fixed network in South Africa, you must dial the area code, wherever you are (e.g. 011 999 9999, 021 999 9999 - for Johannesburg or Cape Town). Numbers outside South Africa must be dialled with 00 before the country code (e.g. 0070959999999 for Moscow, Russia).

What are the redundant numbers of PHONE4YOU?
Redundant three-digit numbers are numbers from the Phone4you network, which are free and have a particular application. Some of the redundant numbers in our network are:

  • 111 - Customer Service
  • 123 - Checking Account
  • 190 - Echo Test
  • 126 - Call Back with Echo Test
  • 180 - Exact time
  • 199 - Open line conference

Yes! If the user has their own local phone number, in any of the cities of South Africa, each fax sent to him/her will automatically be accepted by our system and immediately forwarded to the consumer via e-mail.

How can you obtain a South African number for a certain city?
Each user that registers with  Phone4you gets, for one month, a direct local phone number. For tariff plans with a monthly fee, direct numbers will be provided free of charge and duration of its validity is not bound by the amounts and frequency of charging the account.

How are outgoing calls charged by the PHONE4YOU network?
Outgoing calls to  Phone4you subscribers are free! Calls to paid destinations are charged at the current pricesof Phone4you. The account is initially charged at each 30 seconds mark, with the exception of the South African mobile operators, where the original recording is 60 seconds, thereafter, every 6 seconds.

How can you redirect incoming calls to another phone?
You can redirect all incoming calls to your Phone4you number (including your direct number) to any mobile or fixed telephone number in the world. To enable redirection, you must log in with your user interface, Phone4you number and password and select "Services". In the "Forward Number" block, enter the phone number to which you want your incoming calls to be redirected to, starting with 0. Incoming calls will automatically be redirected to that number, only if your Phone4you phone is not included and your account is with a minimum of BGN 0.50. Redirection is your responsibility.
To disable the redirection, just leave the "Forward Number" block blank.

How can you redirect incoming calls to Skype?
You can redirect all incoming calls from your Phone4you number (including your direct number) to any Skype user. The same steps apply as with redirecting a number, but in the "Forward Number" block type Skype: myskypeid. The calls will be redirected to the entered Skype username.

What number will the recipients of my call see when I contact them?
When calling a fixed or mobile number, the call does not run directly through your local phone number if you have one!  Direct phone numbers are only used for incoming calls and they can be redirected to your Phone4you number. We are trying subscriber searches to see your direct phone number, but it is not always possible. Depending on the operator, through which your calls are passed, it is possible not to see any number or to see random numbers. Unfortunately, in our proposed VoIP service, this cannot be avoided completely as we strive to offer the best possible quality connections as possible at better rates. This requires compromising the identification of outgoing calls.

My phone was working but suddenly stopped. What happened?
This is often due to the fact that you have changed your password in the Phone4you website, but forget to do so in your phone. Note that our system automatically blocks access to the network for two hours of IP addresses that make many attempts to register with the wrong password. Thereby, protecting consumers from theft of their passwords, so-called the “Brutal force method”.
Another reason for your phone problems would be if you changed settings in your firewall or antivirus program. It might also be your ISP.
